Garden Compost / Screened Compost — The All-Purpose Standard
Standard screened garden compost is the most widely available product at landscape supply yards and big-box garden centers. It is made from a blend of yard waste, food scraps, and green material run through an industrial composting process. Density is approximately 1,000 lbs per cubic yard — lighter than topsoil. One cubic yard covers 108 square feet at 3 inches deep or 324 square feet at 1 inch. Mushroom Compost — Rich But Use With Care

Peat Moss — Structure but No Nutrition
